Testimonials

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your time with us yesterday - your honest sharing and baring your heart and soul to help others through the writing of your book. You have a terrific style: funny, passionate and very sincere. You not only shared your own story, but held my book in your hands as you identified with certain aspects of MS and shared that as well. Thank you for that unexpected validation. Your energy, honesty and enthusiasm will take you a long way. It is an exciting time, yet does not minimize the huge loss you've been through with your husband. I admire your strength - Kathy

To whom it may concern,

I would like to recommend a fabulous speaker and presentation to you.

Lynn Longmuir is a long term member of the MS Society and has endeavored to create something incredibly useful and amazing. Her book, “Peace of Mind,” and its contents, are truly a blessing to anyone who reads it and by extension, makes use of it.

Lynn did a two hour talk at the society recently, promoting her book and telling the story of the Longmuirs. The audience really enjoyed both her energy and expertise on such a difficult topic. She was great at answering questions and encouraging people to think a bit deeper. I would not hesitate to recommend Lynn continue to do her talk at various groups and that her book be widely successful. For within it lies tremendous strength and something we could all use in a time of need, “Peace of Mind.” The book really is a treasure to have when someone close to you is ill, or simply when a person is seeking an understanding and organization of their affairs.

Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,

- Katie Ganassin

Lynn Longmuir was asked to speak at an in-service for my department (RJH Medical Imaging) last year. Based on the great success of that seminar, she was invited to the BCAMRT conference in Parksville in the fall of last year. Lynn is an extremely accessible individual and welcomed questions from the group.

Many speakers possess a sharp wit and intelligence about their subject matter - as does Lynn. However, Lynn has walked her talk and actually experienced her subject matter first hand. She brings the human element to the struggles and pain of MS. It was an honor and an education to have her speak for us.

I had the opportunity to see Lynn Longmuir present at the BC Hospice
Palliative Care Association Conference and will never forget her.  She has
an amazing presentation style, confident, honest and emotionally
expressive.  Her story was truly moving and left no doubt that she shared
an incredible love and life with her husband.  The life lessons that she
has shared will inspire and give strength to those experiencing the death
of a loved one.  Lynn's advocacy of self care for the caregiver is a
lesson that everyone should learn.

I highly recommend that anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one, or
wanting to support someone in that situation, read her book, "Peace of
Mind, Care for the Caregiver" and attend her presentation.

Lynn's experience and her sharing has had an impact on the way I will
work.  I have no doubt that because of her story I will be a better
support for caregivers.

I have known Lynn Longmuir since 1998, and have had the opportunity to hear her speak in a number of capacities over the years. As an instructor of a comprehensive, technical training course, where complex concepts and precise details were the focus, Lynn clearly presented the information and assisted the class with thoroughly understanding the material. As a graduate from three of her programs, I can attest to the success of her ability to transfer knowledge in a clear and thoughtful manner.

Each time I have heard her, whether as a guest speaker at an industry conference, or more recently promoting her current book launch, I am struck by Lynn’s sincerity, and the clarity of her message, made all the more poignant by her personal reflections. I would not hesitate to recommend Lynn as captivating and memorable speaker for any event.

Lynn Longmuir from Victoria BC has created a manual to help family caregivers/care partners in dealing with palliative and/or chronic debilitating illness and keeping their own health and sanity throughout. She speaks from experience, having cared for her husband at home throughout a long and devastating illness.  Her focus was always to make happen what her husband chose and she taught all the health care staff who came in to assist what it truly means to "listen" and never to exclude the patient in discussions.

She has a lot to teach all of us about what it really means to be patient centered but her real aim in developing this manual was to give family caregivers the tools to help them keep their lives a partnership instead of becoming the "mother" or the "nurse". She also wanted to empower them by helping them recognize that their perspective is just as valid as that of the health care professional and they do need to ask questions, challenge, ask for care conferences to get everyone together, etc.

In her other life Lynn  established two successful businesses and currently teaches students to become registered in the use of Essential Oils. She is vibrant, funny, full of common sense and establishes rapport with people/groups quickly.  I think you would really enjoy her and her message is a needed one.

Sincerely

Linda MacLeod, RN, BScN, MHA
